Turnaround Licks, Part II
Here are two more turnaround licks (useful over the V – IV change in a 12 bar blues progression). These are a little more challenging than the examples from the first lesson.
This example outlines the chords by using notes from the arpeggios. As the progression returns to the I chord, there is a chromatic climb with 6th intervals using tremolo picking. This works great when there is another 12 bars to solo over and you need some kind of climax going into the next 12.
In this second example, the Blues Scale is combined with the Mixolydian Scale to produce a fast run. This 16th note double-stop at the end hits the flat 7 and the 9th of the D7 chord.
