Shuffle Licks

In a shuffle feel, the underlying rhythm is the 8th note triplet. Rhythms that sound best over this feel are typically comprised of quarter notes, swung 8th notes, or 8th notes triplets. The first example uses the C Form of the A Blues Scale. This lick would be great at the end of a solo after the turnaround resolves to the I chord.

This example works great for bars 3-7 of a 12-bar blues when the progression goes from the I chord to the IV chord then back to the I chord. It is really two seperate licks. The 8th notes should be swung. It uses the D form and the E form of the A Blues Scale.
